I came into rabbit ownership the way most people do — excited, underprepared, and Googling everything at midnight.

What I found online was mostly generic rabbit content that didn’t speak to Lop-specific needs, didn’t come from a real owner’s perspective, and certainly didn’t prepare me for the morning I found my rabbit hunched in the corner with an untouched hay rack and zero droppings in the litter tray.

That moment of panic — followed by a vet visit I’d rather not remember the cost of — is what eventually built this website. I started keeping notes. Then I started writing guides. Then I taught myself how to build a website properly and put everything in one place.

That place is MeetLop.com.

💻 What I Actually Do Here

I design, build, and manage MeetLop.com entirely — from the structure and layout you’re reading right now to every piece of content published on it.

That means I’m the one writing the guides, choosing the structure, optimising the pages, handling the technical side, and making sure everything is readable on a phone at midnight when someone’s rabbit has stopped eating and they need answers immediately.

I research every topic thoroughly — cross-referencing with rabbit-savvy veterinary sources, scientific literature, and real owner communities — and then write it the way I wish someone had written it for me when I was starting out.

Plain language. Honest context. Real experience upfront, not buried at the bottom.

🌱 What I Believe

Lop rabbits are not generic pets and they don’t deserve generic advice.

Their compressed skull shape creates dental vulnerabilities that standard rabbit guides don’t address. Their temperament and anxiety responses are different from other breeds. Their specific health risks — GI stasis, ear infections, molar spurs — need their own dedicated, well-written resources.

That’s the gap MeetLop fills. And that’s the standard every single guide on this site is held to.

❤️ My Lop — The Actual Reason This Exists

My Holland Lop is the reason this site exists and the reason every guide on it is written the way it is.

She has taught me more about patience, observation, and the importance of unlimited hay than I could have learned from any textbook. She has experienced GI stasis, dental spurs, a brief ear infection, and one deeply undignified incident involving a cardboard box and a tube of hand cream.

She is the one who first refused 1st cut timothy hay for three weeks until I switched brands. She is the one whose appetite drop during a summer heatwave sent me down a research rabbit hole that became the heat and temperature guide on this site.

She is opinionated, selective about her greens, and has destroyed three hay racks, one laptop charger, and my ability to sleep through a 3am thump without bolting upright.
